A beautiful walk through a vast area that alternates between forest and heathland.
Regte Heide & Riels Laag is an important nature reserve — a place of great ecological value and therefore protected under the European Natura 2000 network. You can also feel traces of history here, with ancient burial mounds, old trenches, and clay pits scattered throughout the landscape. Surrounding the area are mainly dairy farms, crop fields, and livestock farms, interspersed with villages like Goirle, Riel, Ravels, Alphen-Chaam, and the nearby city of Tilburg.
As the name “Laag” (Low) suggests, there aren’t many elevation changes — but the wide, open views make it absolutely worth it.
