This was our second time visiting the region. The first was for work, but we liked the surroundings so much that we decided to come back for a proper hike.

And the area did not disappoint — such a beautiful and varied landscape, with vast wild forests alternating with open fields and wide views, and now and then a rustic little village tucked into nature. The castle was a bonus, and the local bakery in the same village even more so: pretzels galore!

Definitely worth the drive for a weekend or a short getaway. The number of great hiking trails in this region is impressive, and there’s plenty of accommodation to make it a comfortable stay. As for our favorite spot — we’ll keep that one secret a little longer.
